What is it?

Aromatherapy is the controlled therapeutic use of essential oils extracted by various methods from flowers, trees, shrubs and fruits.
The oils can be used in skin preparations, baths, steam inhalation, compresses and most importantly massage.

What's it used for?

It can be used to relieve stress, headaches, insomnia, muscular pain and skin conditions. Its ultimate aim is to aid relaxation and general well-being.

How does it work?

The essence or 'life-force' of the essential oils can stimulate olfactory (smell) receptors in the nose, and brain scans have shown that this can then trigger activity in certain areas of the brain linked to mood and memory.
Components of essential oils may also be absorbed via the skin into the bloodstream and are then thought to influence the nervous system, mental state and emotions, and possibly even organ function.

Why come to the One2oneClinic for treatment?

Kate has 18 years of experience. She is trained to the highest standard and is a member of two governing bodies - IFA and ITEC. every year she expands her knowledge by attending workshops as part of her continuing developement. This year it has been Hydrotherm Massage and First Aid.
Many Spas and salons offer 'Aromatherapy Massage' as part of their treatment menu but very few actually personally blend essential oils specifically for that individual. They use 'pre- blended' oils and cannot possibly have the same therapeutic effect. Every individual has different needs and that is where a clinical aromatherapist like Kate is quite rare these days.

What should I wear for my treatment?

Arrive in comfortable clothing, something non- restrictive. Be prepared for a small amount of oil in the hair. This is unavoidable but also very beneficial to both hair and scalp.

What happens afterwards?

If at all possible plan a minimal schedule for a few hours post-treatment to ensure the maximum benefit to both mind and body. Drink as much water as you can to accelerate toxin elimination.
